I recently offered to take my teenage daughter on a trip to New York and Washington. She declined the offer, her reasoning being that “you would spend all your time in museums and at concerts and all I like is to go shopping”. I guess at her age I might have had a similar antipathy to art museums but now they are like mother’s milk to me.
