Well horse or sick zebra?

It has been said that a "normal" person is someone who has not had enough tests. If we do enough investigations on anyone, something will eventually turn up, but in primary care most of these will be false positives.
Case
A young, well health sciences student volunteered to be the subject in a practical class on ECGs.
His tutor noted that the student had a pattern suggestive of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and suggested that he have this investigated with an echocardiogram.
The student was healthy, and fit (but not an endurance athlete), and had normal blood pressure and normal heart sounds with no heart murmur on auscultation.
