Mental health issues are a common challenge in general practice. Mental health consultations can be complex and frustrating but they can also be rewarding, delivering long-term benefits for patients and their families.
This seminar will examine a variety of conditions from anxiety to grief and focus on practical ways that GPs can optimise the care of these patients.

Category 1 ALM Activity: Managing anxiety disorders
Earn 40 CPD points*
If you opt to do Category 1 you must complete the ALM activity. This involves:
- Completing a pre-disposing activity
- Attending the Could it be the tablets? Psychiatric side effects of medication or Update on ADHD presentations at the Mental Health seminar
- Participating in the interactive workshop at the Mental Health seminar
- Completing the take-home activity (to be given to you when you show your completed pre-disposing activity at registration on the day of the seminar) that includes documenting your assessment of patients from your practice with anxiety disorders

Category 2
Earn 12 CPD points*
Each hour at the seminar is worth 2 CPD points. You can earn a maximum of 12 CPD points by attending all presentations during the day.
* The Mental Health seminar is accredited for the RACGP QI&CPD program and GPMHSC approved for Mental Health Skills Training in the 2011-2013 triennium
