THE promotion of any product making therapeutic claims -- from alternative treatments to mainstream pharmaceuticals -- should be policed under the scrutiny of one national body, the Federal Government has been warned.The rules surrounding the promotion of therapeutic goods is being examined by a government committee, following long-running concerns that companies that mislead health professionals and the public about the efficacy and safety of their products were escaping sanctions.
