Providing hope comes with a duty of truth

There is a risk of creating the impression that the difference between overcoming cancer and succumbing to it is a patient’s willpower and discipline.
IT probably could be considered a prerequisite for general practice: the must-have for any doctor considering the specialty would be a genuine interest in people and what makes them tick.
I’d like to believe that proclaiming such an interest is a reflection of my inquisitive mind or my unquenchable thirst for knowledge, but I suspect it just means I’m nosey.
And so, perhaps, it comes as no surprise that I am completely intrigued by the drama currently being played out in the pages of the
Medical Journal of Australia
by the duelling Mrs Gawlers.
