Blanket 'cephalosporin allergy' is a myth, immunologists say

Patients who report an allergy to a specific cephalosporin are unlikely to be allergic to others in the same class of antibiotics, immunologists say.

They warn that patients are being wrongly labelled with “cephalosporin allergy”, which might lead to unnecessarily avoiding safe treatment options and unwarranted use of other broad-spectrum antibiotics.
