Registered nurses to be granted prescribing rights under new nursing board proposal
But the RACGP has expressed concern at the plan, saying the writing of scripts requires the expertise of doctors

Nurses will be given powers to prescribe any medication as long as they secure the support of a ‘partner’ doctor under a radical expansion in their scope of practice pushed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
The model has already sounded alarm bells for the RACGP, which says patients would be put at risk.
